Beginner

The Introduction to fencing session is provided for students of any age and physical condition who have never fenced before. This beginning fencing program introduces participants to the sport of fencing and gives them the basic fundamentals needed to start fencing and develop basic skills.

The introduction to Fencing Class is conducted separately for Kids (6-12), Teens (13-19) and Adults 20++.

The Class Covers:

  • Basic eye-hand-foot work
  • Basic understanding of speed, distance and timing
  • Basic fencing techniques
  • Basic attacks and defenses
  • Introduction to fencing etiquette
  • Safety rules and sportsmanship

  • Equipment:

  • Wear long sport pants
  • T-shirt (long or short sleeved)
  • Non-scuffing indoor athletic shoes
  • Bring a water bottle
  • All Fencing equipment will be provided by Prime Fencing Academy
  • Intermediate

    The intermediate program is for fencers who have completed the introduction to Fencing Program, Intermediate Fencing Summer Camp, Fenced for at least 1-2 years in another fencing program, or would like to refresh their skills after an absence from training.

    The Class Covers:

  • Increase emphasis on eye-hand-footwork
  • Reinforcing foundational skills
  • Focus on real tactics in real bouts
  • Intermediate footwork drills
  • Increased practice fencing bouts
  • Instruction on fencing foil rules

  • Equipment:
  • Intermediate level fencers own their own fencing gear with at least 2 working foils and 2 body cords.

    Advanced

    The Advanced Program is designed for fencers who will compete at local, regional and national competitions.

    The fencers in the Advanced Program work:

  • Fundamental fencing abilities are refined.
  • Emphasis on advanced technique and tactics.
  • Learn to build a bout.
  • Ability to dissect a bout and work on improving non-successful elements.
  • Advanced footwork drills.
  • Open fencing bouts and fencing bout drills.
  • Fencers in the advanced program are taking more than 2 lessons per week.
  • Analysis of fencing bouts.

  • Equipment:
    Advanced level fencers own their own fencing gear with at least 2-3 working foils and body cords.

    Summer Program

    Our Summer Program offers a comprehensive fencing camp for participants looking to enhance their skills during the summer months. Designed for all levels, this camp provides a fun and engaging environment for kids to learn and grow as fencers.

    The Class Covers:

  • Learn and improve Fencing specific skills and strategies
  • Increase coordination, flexibility and balance
  • Build confidence and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience friendly competitions and team building

  • Equipment:
  • Beginner Fencers: All equipment will be provided
  • Intermediate and Advanced Fencers: Bring their own fencing equipment with at least 2 foils and 2 bodycords.

    Private Lessons

    Private lessons provide individualized coaching sessions tailored to the specific needs and goals of the fencer. They are the most effective way to improve skill and technique. It provides focused attention to accelerate learning advanced tactics, strategies.

    Equipment:
    Every fencer should bring their foil, gloves, and a mask to the session.
